CAS Reflection 2: Running Hour

At the beginning of this year I was part of the running hour service which ran at 7pm to 8:30pm on a Thursday evening.  In this service we would run laps around the Singapore national stadium track with people who have mental disabilities.  This service was in place in order to help these people get exercise who normally cannot get active due to their disabilities.  What was challenging in this service was the lack of communication with some of the people we went with as lots of them were not able to talk to us easily because of their disabilities so we had to make the extra effort in order to help understand them better.  What I learned from this service was resilience as it was very difficult to talk with our walking partners at certain times due to their lack of inability to talk to us so we had to persevere in order to have strong communications with our partners.
