As a student, its really challenging to get at least 8 hours of sleep per day, which is the recommended time to sleep. On average, I sleep around 7 hours.
Some reasons for this would be
* After school activities
* Extra activities outside of school
* Temptations (youtube, Netflix, etc)
In my experience, whenever I have after school activities, it’s hard for me to get enough sleep. Once I get home it’s around 5:30, then I take shower and eat and its around 7. So I stay up late to finish all my homework and study. Of course, there are days when I don’t sleep enough because of temptations, such as tv or youtube. I also don’t take naps because I’m never sleepy in the afternoon and once when I did, it really messed up my sleeping schedule.
When I get at least 8 hours of sleep, I feel more energised and ready for the day. So I do understand sleep is important, but I, including a lot of other teens, still don’t prioritise it as much as we should.
