Gym – first session (Lo2)

LO2 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

Exercise is something that has not always been consistent in my life. Although I always heard about the great benefits of exercise on one’s physical and mental well-being, I somehow managed to always find an excuse to avoid doing it. Therefore, over the years I have become more self-conscious of my lack of skills and technique when it comes to physical activities. This is why although going to the gym on a weekly basis may seem easy to others, I felt quite reluctant and nervous to do so. 

Therefore, I decided to go with a friend to hopefully make it more fun and less daunting. During the first session, I used the treadmill, elliptical, rowing machine, and jump rope.  These were things I was familiar with and found not too difficult. Next week, I plan on doing other exercises I find more challenging or am not as familiar with such as using the lat pulldown machine or doing push-ups and planks. Hopefully, as I continue to go to each weekly session, I will see improvement by being able to do more reps in a shorter amount of time.
