Collaboration has been a vital component of my CAS journey so far, and is something I have displayed in numerous activities. The biggest CAS experience of this year so far has been MUNOFS, my first ever MUN conference, and collaboration was something I utilised and strengthened throughout the conference. The entire premise of MUN is to collaborate with others to forge resolutions, and to build consensus in order to get them passed, and during the extensive group work done throughout the weekend, I was able to develop my collaboration skills and learn how to work well in a group of people I’ve never met before. Collaboration is also something that has been important to my success as part of the House Band for Bersama. I’m one of the guitarists in a band of five (two guitars, bass, drums, and piano), and in order to play and sound as good as we can, a certain element of collaboration and teamwork is necessary. Being in a band is all about being in sync with one another and playing off of each other, and I’ve found that we have become a far more cohesive unit as the year has gone on, and collaboration has undoubtedly played a major part in that transformation. Additionally, collaboration has been an integral part of activities in which one wouldn’t initially expect it to be, such as tennis. During the pre-season, we worked on both singles and doubles play, and in order to be a successful doubles pairing, collaboration and a sense of unity is required. Tactics can’t be discussed while the point is going on, which is why we collaborate by trying to compliment our partner’s playing style, outwitting the opponents in the process. This goes to show how collaboration is present in nearly all fields and activities, whether we recognize it or not.
