CAS Unplugged Reflection

LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

Perhaps the highlight of my year so far and all the activities I’ve done is Unplugged, a school concert that took place on December 3rd. I was part of two acts for the concert, playing guitar and (backup) singing  “Patience” by Guns N Roses in the first, and singing for a medley of four beatles songs (“Here Comes The Sun”, “In My Life”, “With A Little Help From My Friends”, “Hey Jude”) in the second. I have played guitar for performances multiple times before, but this was my first time singing live, making it quite a challenge. Before the concert, I wouldn’t have called myself a singer, and I remember doubting myself on certain occasions before the concert. We had a rehearsal a few days before the actual show, and we were really rough around the edges compared to the other acts. However, we worked really hard to get our act together, and our final performance went way better than we could have possibly imagined. We weren’t the tightest of bands, but the energy we brought to the stage made up for that, and our performance was very well received. Since the performance, I’ve grown in confidence in my singing, and that has only been made possible by me undertaking the challenge of singing live in the first place; a challenge which has undoubtedly yielded rewards.
