Our Partner

The Peacehaven Centre aims “to improve the quality of life of our senior citizens and also provide early intervention so that they can continue living in the community for as long as possible.”

They provide care to the elderly with a multitude of services available; depending on respective needs, they offer nursing, physical rehabilitation, home assessment, psychosocial support as well as support at the client’s home.

Catering to clients’ multiple requirements, such as clients with dementia, is the principle by which the centre guides its multi disciplinary approach to care. Here is a link to their website to learn more about them.

To serve the underprivileged without discrimination. To raise publicity for events and create a more public sense of awareness. To connect the Pioneer Generation of Singapore with the younger generations in the country. To fully enrich the elderly in terms of creativity and motor skills, to develop upon said skills through a number of mediums.

Connection to the SDGs

We saw the needs of this service as a clear cut connection to SDG #10, regarding reduced inequalities. We want to create an environment where students of our generation are able to connect with the Pioneer Generation of Singapore, through organising activities and taking part in said activities with them. Not only that, but we aim to make this generation of elders still feel valid in the community that is being more and more controlled by the younger generations nowadays; we want to show them that they still have a place in our society, and that we are grateful to them for being the generation that pioneered this country into what it is today for us. We want to show that discrimination towards the elderly nd the underprivileged has no place in our society, and this is a value we hope to instil in our UWC community.

Inequality within and among nations continues to be a significant concern despite progress in and efforts at narrowing disparities of opportunity, income and power. Income inequality continues to rise in many parts of the world, even as the bottom 40 per cent of the population in many countries has experienced positive growth rates. Greater emphasis will need to be placed on reducing inequalities in income as well as those based on other factors. Additional efforts are needed to increase zero-tariff access for exports from least developed countries and developing countries, and assistance to least developed countries and small island developing States.
