In a time of anxiety and social distancing, what can we do to look out for one another?

It is no doubt that for most of us the precautions to be taken during this pandemic have amounted in a significant deal of stress and anxiety to our lives. Not to mention the drastic change to our daily routines that have now been altered to our home confinement. Moreover, it is easy to feel isolated time due to lack of social contact, as man is a social animal and forever will be one. Even the news no longer ridicules politicians, instead, it has begun to realise the implications that any actions those politicians make will have.

During this situation, many of us have found solace in video conferencing apps that let us communicate with friends and families, some of us  no longer feel as annoyed by family chat groups as we have started to realise the importance of our relationships and how dreadful life could be without them. In a time like this, we can look out for one another in the simplest of ways, be it a message checking in on our friends or even lamenting about the situation to show others that their not alone (a practice we are all guilty of)!

We all  feel the emotions of the narrative we chose to follow, it is dangerous to believe that an end to this situation will never come, as it can take a toll on our mental wellbeing. Instead, we should focus on the more important things in life without getting trapped in the cycle of fear alongside being rational and following the precautions put in place. By floating positive emotions to our families, we can create a conducive environment for constructive discussions on the topic and eventually find a way to think around it.

We need to be sure that there is an end, but till then, let us continue to keep our hopes up, and obliterate our families at UNO.
