Urban Gardening (mid-point reflection 2)

We just finished with our first batch of students (G10) and now are starting to work with G9 this week.

I felt that through working with the G10, I have further understanding of what it means to be a leader to these students and what leaders need to do. My partner and I worked well in terms of giving the students freedom during each session, but having projects so they have a direction to work towards.

I was also able to learn more about gardening through this first half as I didn’t know much about it prior to leading the service. Working so much with plants also helped me gain appreciation for my surroundings and the efforts that go into maintaining plants and growing them.

For the new groups, I want to further work on leadership and having a deeper purpose for the garden. To do this, we are planning on more projects that students can contribute to, as well as a workshop with G11s.
