We are now in the final stages of Studnet Council before the transition process, with elections happening now. We are finishing up on many projects that we began to start last year, and are ensuring that everything moves slowly when eventually we transition in the next year. This has been a very difficult time for me because I have always played a very active role in the Student Council and I have been a part of this activity since I was in G11. Now that I have to think about leaving and passing on leadership, it does make me feel a bit sad that it is all coming to an end.
The new Student Council representatives have been chosen and now I am planning sessions for the next group to ensure everything is passed over appropriately. We will be starting off the year with assembly planning. Unfortunately, my original plan was doing strategic planning for the year and doing goal setting but because the G10 IGCSE students are doing mock exams, I have had to change my plans. Initially, problems with the election also delayed my plans and this was very frustrating, however, I understand they were necessary delays and we still hope to come up with new leadership positions by January. Finally, we will be coming up with new leadership positions. I plan on staying on the council until February but I will be planning and leading the sessions until December. I am well aware that this plan has changed and I will have to continue to adapt throughout the year. I do not expect any of the new members to know what is happening, so introducing them to the Council will also take more time. However, these are necessary delays and I will try and be flexible when dealing with these changes.
