Mukul Deva and the passion of writing

I used to think that authors wrote for their passion or for wanting to make a change in the world or because they had an amazing story that just had to be shared but today at the talk we had changed my mind, know I think that there are more money orientated authors than I thought. If you just use the same template for writing stories over and over your never going to make new content or really make an impact with your writing. Sure it pays rent but if thats all you care about then why not a job that pays well? You should write a story you love and want to connect with your audience and make an impact on their lives, not just use a template, write a book in a year, and boom cash. It just feels immoral or wrong to me. You should take your time. The talk today was by Mukul Deva.

Your first sentence “I used to think that authors wrote for their passion or for wanting to make a change in the world or because they had an amazing story that just had to be shared but today at the talk we had changed my mind, now I think that there are more money orientated authors than I thought.” This statement made me think about my own perspective. Personally, I believe there are many different reasons to write a book, not just for love and passion for writing. Actually most of the time I’m sure that not all writing is even able to make money unless it sells super well. And also I actually really enjoyed his idea of how to write a story, it isn’t so much of a template as a guiding statement of where to start from. It’s like the 3 steps of laying a foundation. The steps aren’t something that makes you write the same story over and over again, and although Makul Deva wrote the same genre over and over again he was able to be very successful because he wrote in a different and interesting way every time.
