My Local Service is spending time with the elderly at Peacehaven Bedok Day Center. After visiting the site for the first time, my peers and I decided to set goals for the year that would benefit the people at the Day Center. The initial part of establishing broad goals was easy, but when it came to the intricate planning of the activities that we could do with the elderly, was where we faced our first challenge. We had to come up with activities that were enjoyable for both the people at the Center and us, apart from this we also needed to ensure that their physical restrictions were taken into account and that the chosen activities would receive a green light from the management of the Day Center. The challenges did not end there, after deciding on the activities, we needed to intricately plan and organize their execution to make sure that when we go on site, everything ran smoothly and effectively. After an hour of working collaboratively, we had a plan and the only thing missing was the green light from the management to put it into effect. Working as a team meant that we had a range of ideas which made it more easier to find a solution for a challenge we came across.
