CAS Reflection #1 – Piano

I started learning to play the piano in January 2021 as a part of a New Year’s Resolution to expand my horizons and try new things. I would like to focus mainly on learning objectives 2 and 4; undertaking new challenges and developing new skills, and showing perseverance and resilience. When I started playing the piano I found it quite difficult to coordinate my fingers in the way that was required to play the songs and I struggled a lot in my first two weeks, but I continued to practice almost 3 hours a week on the same things so I could work on the fundamental skills and improve my hand-eye coordination to the required level, and I think that it was important that I persisted despite the difficulties because I was new to this so it would require me to commit to practicing and becoming consistent; I realized that after a month of continuous practice I was becoming a lot more comfortable with the songs and I was progressing faster than expected. This highlighted the importance of perseverance and I shall look to continue working hard as I progress through my journey learning the piano.
