What if the religious right went beyond elections and staged a revolution, establishing an American government that replaced the Constitution with the Bible?

How could it take place? What would life be like under it, especially for women?

Sometimes, although there is a democracy in the country, a situation of crisis can lead to the rise of a powerful, fanatic government that is intended to end the crisis but is actually using the vulnerability of the country to gain power and take full control.  There are similarities between this and what is currently taking place in Turki, where the current party was elected in a democratic manner, however once elected it started to introduce religious rules and tried to replace the constitution permanently. In addition, the Islamic revolution in Iran, was when the citizens were trying to replace the King which led to a fanatic religious figure rising, and rules repressing the rights of the citizens, especially women to start. Women were treated poorly and were taken away rights that they already had like mandatory vailing, not allowed to go out without male family members, and being sent to jail for publically speaking about the equal rights for women.
