English Comment: Is it Immoral to Increase the Price of Goods During a Crisis?

Personally, I would consider what Mr. Colvin and his brother did to be immoral, but that is mainly due to other influences and due to the way that I was brought up. By stockpiling hand sanitizer and toilet paper, he is taking resources away from the general public and the community. One could argue that the masses need these products now at a lower cost, and that by using the current situation solely for profit is highly immoral, and therefore Amazon and eBay would be justified in shutting down his accounts. That being said, there isn’t anything particularly illegal about what he is doing. Although he is using the fear of the people, especially in these trying times, for financial gain, he isn’t going against the laws or the regulations put in place by the government. So yes, I agree that it is immoral, but the government cannot press charges, because the work that he is doing isn’t illegal.
