Siegfried and the Avalanche

Siegfried and the Avalanche

In the story of Siegfried and the Avalanche the author explores ideas about a new girl (Regina) starting college and her relationship with her  new male roommate (Siegfried).  The author presents certain stereotypes about Regina as she starts her college experience, with these stereotypes we notice what type of person Regina is. She is presented as a somewhat smart and reserved girl as she meets her male roommate “Siegfried”. I feel that ideas are explored around Reginas personal problems and lack of self confidence or self doubt. Regina allows her emotions to be exposed towards others as she is a new girl in college.

When Siegfried and Regina first meet they lack common interests and similarities and are almost forced into being friends but after they meet again many years later I feel that their relationship gets closer and the two characters find more similarities between them and get along better. When they go on their holiday together and face problems I feel that the two characters become closer in terms of friendship.

I feel that the story reaches its climax when the two characters re meet and face their problems with the avalanche. Both characters are put in this uncomfortable and scary situation where they have to help each other.
