L02 + L05: 2nd Netball reflection

I enjoyed pre season netball a lot that I decided to join netball in season. Not only did this allow me to develop my skills on the game but it also allowed me meet new people and enjoy the game.

In the team I found it easy to collaborate with people as I already know many of them but I got to develop a stronger relationship with them as I ask many questions about the game. I also got to meet new people which was exciting as we got to grow in knowledge about the sport. The biggest challenge that I had in playing netball was being confident and putting myself out there. This year I really pushed myself to join something new and one of the activities was netball, so joining was a challenge but what proved to be a even bigger challenge was allowing myself to make mistakes. A lot of the girls have played netball for a long time and at times it can be intimidating to try, thankfully, they were all supportive and allowed me to make mistakes. I think through this I got to learn more skills. One other challenge I faced was that as there were restrictions with how we play netball due to COVID 19 regulations, the games we played were modified. This was really confusing and at times I can feel myself get frustrated as I don’t understand. Now I’m just trying to enjoy and I’m still in the process of feeling confident and learning the game.

Recently, we got the opportunity to play against UWC Dover. This was an exciting experience as it has been over a year since I played against other schools in any sport. Going into the game I didn’t feel confident but as the games continued I understood more and was able to work with my teammates. I think we all felt the same at the start but due to the competitive nature we all wanted to work together to make the most out of the experience. Overall this experienced made me realise how I like working with other people in a team. It taught me how to work with people I just met.

I’m proud of myself that I stepped out of my comfort zone as I now enjoy this sport and I now know that I can learn something new and its okay to make mistakes.
