You didn’t make good choices. You had good choices.

In the book little first everywhere, this quote stands out to me as although many might argue that everyone has choices and the choices they take lead them to where they are now. This is very true, however the book reminds us that different people have different choices based on their race, culture, nation, and financial status.  This deeply connected to me. Being Malaysian, when going back to visit family the difference between me and the villagers is obvious. I see children around my age walking around their fishing village with no shoes or proper cloths. This made me think, that we were both the same, but due to pure luck, I was born into a fairly well off family while he was born into a fishing village family. While I was going to a reputable school, learning, striving to improve, he was learning how to fish, so that one day he could teach his children how to and have a source of food.
