Before the season started I wanted to challenge myself by leaning how to do a jump smash, which the techniques differed from the normal smash and other shots within badminton. This was also a challenge because it required prefect timing for the racket to come into contact with the shuttlecock at the height at the jump. Furthermore, I had to do a variety of exercises to improve my jump height.

As of writing this reflection I have gotten the technique correct after practicing in school with the school’s coaches but also playing with my father during the holiday. During my games with fellow team-mates or friendly matches I made a personal note to try and utilise the newly developed skill. This being said, the angle of the shot could improve, and this can be done if I had a higher jump. Something I will aim to work on in the next few weeks as the season comes to an end.
