LO4: Commitment – Showing Perseverance, resilience
The warmups were quite intense in some sessions. For example, after we ran around the sports hall for ten laps, we still need to do the footwork. Normally, after three sets of footwork, I was extremely exhausted and out of breath. Then, the coach would say if you would like to challenge yourself, just stay and to two more sets. I was quite hesitated. The squats in the footwork made me my legs feel weak. When I saw around five people continued to do the footwork, I was inspired. In addition, my friends and I encouraged each other. Hence, I decided to do til the last set to push my limit. Although the process was painful and my speed got slower and slower due to the lack of endurance, I still managed to finish all the sets. The weekly challenge like this has helped to boost my stamina and the develop the characteristics of perseverance, allowing me to be more endurable and keep active in matches.
Apart from stamina and footwork, I also improved several badminton skills. I had been working on drop shots, smashes and nets quite a lot. All these were quite important in matches.
