Languages are important to people in many different ways. In this episode I believe people are trying to emphasize its importance of being a part of identify of a group of people who speak this language.
In many ways the language one speaks can greatly influence the person, emotional, financial or social. When a person is speaking his language, most of the time it seems like he is being more confident, reliable. Whereas when people are speaking in another language, especially when they are having some accent, the language he is speaking could misrepresent himself as unprofessional, or not so confident. In the episode, Stephen Fry talked to a Bilingo speaker who speak both English and her mother language Russian, they discussed about why and how one person’s accent has influences on his character and could represent an English speaker or misrepresent a non-English speaker.
Also in the episode, people who speak dialogue was highly represented by the language they speak, it become part of their life, their culture and their experience or become an important way of how they view the world.
