Recently, we had a debate in Gpers about the nature vs nurture argument.
Before the debate, I thought that genetics played a very large role in determining my character. However, after collecting information and research, I have changed my beliefs slightly. For example, the study done by Thomas Bouchard of the University of Minnesota changed my beliefs on my IQ. Previously, I had always thought that IQ was just something determined at birth, and that it grew naturally, similarly to height. Now, I think that IQ can be greatly affected by how someone is raised and the environment they are in. I think that many other things can be similar to the example of IQ. I now think that even though I have a certain set of genes, what matters more to my identity is the influence of environmental factors around me.
