How am I going to achieve my NYAA service requirements?

Because of  the COVID-19 situation, the service I originally wanted to participate in was not possible, as it involved working with clients from the local community. Therefore, we spent our service meetings doing some research about intellectual disabilities and attitudes towards people with intellectual disabilities in Singapore.

However, this meant that I could not achieve my NYAA service requirements. But I still do want to do something to help. So, I decided I would offer financial aid to people that need it. I’m not yet sure where I will send the money, but I’m sure of how I will get it. I’ve talked with my parents, and we’ve come up with an agreement. I’ll help out more with household work, and for every hour that I work, my parents will pay me a dollar. My goal is 40 hours.

The type of work I will do and approximate timings:

  1. Making my bed – 10 minutes
  2. Wiping the table after breakfast, lunch and dinner – 5 minutes per day
  3. Wiping down my room (desk, chair, computer, phone) – 15 minutes
  4. Cooking a meal for my parents – 30 minutes to 60 minutes (depending on the day)
  5. Putting my clothes away – 10 minutes per day
