Up till now in NYAA I have only done service at school, during lunchtime. However, I realised that there are other ways to help those around me. For example, as a result of the pandemic, I am at home a lot more than usual, which means I am able to help my parents with smaller household chores such as cleaning the kitchen table and making the beds in the mornings. I learnt the power of simply helping those near you. It really did make a difference to my parents. By having more hands on deck in the kitchen, things got done much faster and meals were made quickly. We all had more time to rest! I learnt that service is not something that should be done out of obligation, or because someone will see you do it. Rather, it should be altruistic, and the happiness you invoke in them from small acts of kindness really goes a long way.

Throughout the summer I plan to help even more with household chores and cooking! Not only do I enjoy it, but it helps my parents too!
