The Story of My Learning Starts Here

Project Week Reflection

January 31, 2021

My project week group was planning to visit the GIli Islands in Indonesia and work with the Gili Eco Trust service. We planned to do a variety of activities that aim to improve marine life conditions on the island, and would allow us to learn about the projects that have been and could be implemented to support marine life. However this could not push through due to COVID. This planning was still good practice for our organisation and allowed us to experience the responsibility and thoroughness required to plan a trip that is economically efficient, safe, fun, feasible and has activities that will amount to a well rounded experience. It was a huge disappointment the project did not follow through, especially considering all the work we had put into the planning. We worked together to communicate with the service partner and conduct hours of research outside of meeting time in order to find the best deals and experiences to enlist ourselves onto and that would help us realise our goals. All while taking into account the ethical implications of our actions, seeing that we would still be the foreigners/outsiders entering the area and working directly with the service partner who we have not encountered face to face before…I feel this project would have been one of the experiences whose global value is especially obvious and whose impact would have been easy to measure. I was still glad to have been able to work with a group who is passionate about marine life and was driven to make this project the most valuable and impactful as possible.

LO5 – collaboration. working together to achieve outcome
