I recently had my final Chinese calligraphy session… and I have to say I am somewhat pleased with the progress so far.

Let’s talk improvements. Compared to when I started, I’m a lot more comfortable with the pen, as in it doesn’t feel as strange as it used to hold and write with it. Additionally, I feel like I take less time for a single character and they turn out a lot better. It used to be really hard at the start as I could never seem to grip the pen properly, so the words would never turn out the way I wanted them to, but I feel that it is not as bad as it used to be. It has also helped me become more patient. I tend to get really impatient when something takes to long (I take a really long time to write one character), but after I would finish one character I would feel really happy with the result, which made the time it took worth it. I feel that because of this I have learnt that even if something takes a long time, the result will make it worth it, so I should just be patient.

Chinese calligraphy has been an interesting endeavour and I’m glad that I did it! Maybe I’ll pick it up once again in the near future…
