My initial research has been based around the portrayal of the Villain “Hans Gruber” from the film Die Hard. My research has been very general and mainly revolved around the type of villain he was and about other who filmmakers that took influenced from this movie’s villain. Upon my first meeting with my supervisor, he recommended that I researched into cultural context and the time period the film was released in. This made me further research into the culture of the 1980s and how the time period reflects the qualities of the film and therefore the villain in the film. The writing process thus far has been a bit of a struggle as I have found lots of interesting and valuable information, I am finding it hard to translate it into words. However, this is a high point as I now know that I will have a surplus of information to then use in my essay.
