drama workshop (with shane)

Earlier today we had a workshop in Drama with a theatre director, and it was really worthwhile and interesting. I learned many different things that could be really useful when we’re creating our storytelling drama pieces. Here are some of the notes I took:

  • tempo you can build and get faster and faster (creates tension)
  • repetition used to create meaning (visually compelling)
  • duration is the length of time (use creatively)

Tempo can be manipulated to create a tense and thrilling pace.

  • AWARENESS: self, space, gaps
  • ENSEMBLE: listening, reacting, alert
  • ENERGY: opposite highs and lows, big difference
  • FOCUS: discipline, staying on task

ACTING

  • ONLINE: alert, in the zone, generative, right brain,
  • OFFLINE: reflective, out the zone, analytical, edit
