Kampot Khmer Logo Reflection

After looking at our old logo, I realized that there needed to be a redesign. I felt that the simple black and white logo with a vertically aligned text did really represent us and did not help convey what we stand for. I wanted to incorporate the colors of the sustainability compass, accentuating our mission to serve and help. I also wanted to show our specific target on education and Chumkriel Language School. My main goal was to colorize our old logo and make it eye-catching.

I focused on the structure of the books but making them sleeker, blockier, and clearer. I took inspiration from our old logo and decided to keep the image of the house that the books form. I realized that another emphasis on education aside from books is the symbol of a pencil. I incorporated the yellow collar of the compass into the pencil and arranged it in the center emphasizing our focus on it. I contrasted the vertical block with the horizontal text to draw focus towards our name. I tried to incorporate all this into our new logo while still respecting the structure of the old one. I am pretty pleased with the result and so are my fellow GC members.

Mid-year Reflection 2018/19

Mid-year Reflection

This year Kampot Khmer was first run on 11th Sept, and it had been about 3 months since the start of our GC. During the three-month time, we have made a lot of improvements.

First of all, we set our GC goals for this year. Because this year we do not need to raise fund for CLS as we have already sent the money, our main focus is raising awareness. The process of raising awareness includes direct, which is mainly about the support of middle school GC Kampot Khmer talent show, and indirect action, including the management of portfolio and time. We also want to make connections with other GC so that we can have more activities to raise awareness.

Besides, we set our regular weekly timetable. Every Tuesday lunchtime, our GC will start at 1 o’clock. Most of the members come on time, which really improve GC’s efficiency. On the other hand, members include the Chair, Vice Chair, Communication, Enterprise, and Liaison will have an extra meeting on Friday to make the brief plan for the following Tuesday. These changes are all contributed to the improvement of time management and efficiency. We also separate our GC members into different committees to focus on different topics. For example, the communication committee focuses mainly on portfolio and posters. This is a specialisation of members which can, furthermore, increase the efficiency.

On 16th Nov, we made a Skype call with Mr Thy from CLS. This year we want to improve our communication with the scholarship students so that we can learn more about how we can really do something to help them except from fundraising. After the call, we decide to make pen-pails with the students in CLS and teach them English through email.

On 25th and 26th Jan, 2019, our members are going to sell snacks for people coming to see the show, Aida, to raise funds and awareness of our GC.
