Mukul Deva – WF

Mukul Deva talked about the process of writing a book. Something that surprised me was when he talked about how the research normally takes longer to do than writing the book. For example, if the book is set in different countries you need to research all the cultures, make sure that the time zones match up and make sense etc. I found it interesting that he said that the easiest genre of book to write is a mystery. He said that mysteries are easiest to write because you always need the murderer, the victim, a detective and a few witnesses/suspects. The storyline is very similar in most mystery books so you need to make sure that everything else in the book is unique.

  1. Hey Anna, it’s Maya 🙂
I wanted to say I really liked your post, I liked how you gave me some information on what was talked about during Mukul Deva’s talk but also gave me some personal opinions. I liked how you told me his personal opinion on how he finds mysteries, the easiest to write. If we were going to continue this conversation, the one question I would ask you, would be “Do you know what the hardest genre to write is”. Finally, I liked how you focused on talking about how one genre can be more difficult to write than others and followed through, describing it and talking about it well.
    Thank you
