The rules I want to live my life by

I decided to post this here as I think the rules I came up with are actually ones I want to live by, and if I leave them in my Gpers workbook, I’ll probably forget them.

I want to live:

  1. As a person who is just and fair to all others, regardless of their opinions, lifestyle, appearance, socioeconomic status or other characteristics.
  2. As a person who trusts in others and makes sure others can trust in me.
  3. As a person who is always honest and truthful, except for when the truth will hurt or damage someone who doesn’t deserve to be hurt.
  4. As a person who is sincere in what they say, who doesn’t make fake promises or apologies.
  5. As a person who is empathetic and who puts themselves in other people’s shoes, even if it may be challenging for me to do so.
  6. As a person who is grateful of my opportunities and privilege in life and who puts them into the best use possible.
  7. As a person who is generous with what they have and willing to help others out who are in need, even if it might put me in a less comfortable position
  8. As a person who is loyal to their family and friends when they deserve it, but does not take loyalty too far. For example, I would not aid a family member in hiding a major crime they had committed.
  9. As a person who is genuinely kind and caring, and takes actions not because of how they will reflect on myself, but because of my own values and appreciation for the other person.
  10. As a person who exhibits self-control, who doesn’t lash out or harm other people out of anger or for the sake of it, and who thinks through important decisions before making them.
