Perception – Conceptual Understanding

Perception allows us to develop an understanding of the certainty and reliability of our interpretation of what we see and choose to understand.

The understanding of how our perception changes due to our biological differences that change the views and perspective of what we see. Knowing the ways our brain filters out and determines what information is deemed important can help us understand what we need to take into consideration when we remove or add information. For example, in the presentation Mr Alchin gave earlier in the year, we saw several triangles and depending on which corner we focused on, the direction of the triangle would change. However, it is important to consider that the triangles are not, in fact, changing direction, they only appear so. This is because our brains deem one point of the triangle more important and it becomes the direction. Taking this into account means we can understand how others can perceive different truths due to their perception.
