Given increasing concerns over global warming, I was curious to read an article discussing the production of biofuels from algae. I delved deeper into researching algal biodiesel as a substitute for petroleum and discovered with advances in technology there is often a conflict between economics and science. This will drive my interdisciplinary approach. My initial steps have been finding relevant academic papers, receiving advice from the librarian and summarizing information from sources. I also collated two lists of the possible strategies in economics and chemistry that could be used to process and evaluate information. This research is helping in refining my research question. My next steps are finalizing my research question, continuing research and evaluating the viability of my sources.
