EE Final Reflection

Throughout this essay, I had to make sure I was being conscious of the inherent bias in these plays – I needed to find historical and critical resources to gain an objective view of the context. The essay focuses on the literary analysis of how the plays reflect the context that I researched through secondary sources. From my secondary resources, I was able to create a synthesis of biological and contextual information within my line of argument for my essay to further support my literary analysis.

I was surprised to discover how Ibsen imbues darkly witty stage movement and dialogue in complete contrast with his normally naturalistic style. These witty sections cross paths with Wilde, which was intriguing for such different writing styles from both playwrights. Whereas Ibsen’s grave and moral analysis relies on small satirical and farcical moments, Wilde relies on pure farce and satire to get his points across.
