Softball Final Reflection

I am really happy with how this season went. Our hard work paid off and we ended up winning SEASAC against Dover. I feel like we worked together well as a team this season and I feel like I got closer to the people on the team that I already knew beforehand. I feel like I have focused a lot on hitting line drives this season and it has paid off during SEASAC this season, as I got on base nearly every time I hit the ball. I also think that my fielding has improved significantly this season, as I have got a lot better at tracking the ball. I think what I have improved the most at is my throwing, as earlier in the season, my throws would have a quite large degree of error.

Softball

So far, this softball season has been great. I have had time to work on my personal skills and have gotten better at my position in right field. I have also enjoyed working with the team and have gotten to know a lot of them better. We have been successful so far this season, and have won all of our matches so far. I particularly enjoyed playing at the Rudy Beck tournament as I felt that we worked really hard to get to that point so it was great to see the result of our efforts. I am looking forward to SEASAC later this year and hope to be successful.

Marimba

This year, I decided to try doing marimba. So far, I have really enjoyed playing with the group, and think that I am steadily improving as the year has gone on. I am getting better at the patterns that I play individually, but I still find it more difficult to play along at the same speed as the group without losing focus for extended periods of time. I’m looking forward to getting better as the year goes forward. I am a little bit concerned about how we work together as a group, but I hope that we can work things out better as the year goes on. Later in the year, we hope to do one of the performances for the school.

Tabitha Aida reflection

Personally, this was the first time I had done a sale of things for a GC event so it was a new experience for me. I think that we were fairly successful during the sales, but I think we could have done better. One thing we could have done to become more effective is that we could have had more people there to try to attract people to our stand. I think this would have increased our sales as when we started doing this about halfway through we started to sell more food. I hope that later in the year I can participate in more events like this one.

Volleyball

I think that this season, I have improved a lot from when I first started, as I have gotten better at my serves, as well as my reception, but there are still things I can improve to be more successful. I think I have most improved on my timing for hitting, and knowing when to time my approach differently when the setter gives a different set. The main thing I think I need to work on is focusing on reading where to block my opponent because if I am not as effective, it will be much easier for them to win the point because I am the main blocker in the middle. Coach Service has also suggested that we do some off-season training after SEASAC, so I would want to plan to do that for the rest of the year.

First session with members of Hougang Care Center

Today, we had our first session with the members of Hougang Care Center. We first did some icebreakers with the members to get to know them better, then started doing some body percussion. I feel like although we spent quite a bit of time preparing what we were going to do in the session, we could have spent more time picking leaders and deciding who was doing what, because I hadn’t before had practice doing the body percussion stuff, so that would be something to improve in the future. I think that even though we had a slight lack of preparation for the first session, we were successful in connecting to the members, and hope to continue going forward.

Hougang Care Center – preparing videos for the members

This lesson, we started to prepare videos to show the members. My group, in particular, had to collaborate to talk about the benefits of drum therapy. I was personally working on compiling notes that we could look at in our video, and also found some things that we could think about in the ted talk that we watched. I think that from this exercise, we can help all of the members in Hougang to get a better sense of who we are before we meet them.
