LO3 Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

I am co-leading Culturama Kenya and as this is my third time leading a dance, the initial process had been going smoothly. We have been inspired by afro-dance and Kenyan traditional dances so we have adapted ideas from Youtube to create our own dance. Our dance is based on Mekatilili Wa Menza who is one of Kenya’s most noted freedom fighters who made her impact in the early 1900s. To this day, she is considered a Kenyan hero as well as a feminist icon, for her strong passion for freedom and love towards her community. We have choreographed traditional and upbeat modern dances to showcase a part of the Kenyan culture and celebrate Mekatiliili’s legacy. As we were aware of the limited amount of time to teach the dance, we have planned our dances and sessions early on to make sure we are organized. It was challenging to plan formations to make sure we are all socially distanced and all dancers get to dance in the front row (especially considering that is Culturama happening online this year).
