Generic tips learnt from the mocks

After taking the mocks I’ve learnt a lot more on how to do the paper 1 for english lit. I feel that in doing this mock exam I was successful in accomplishing my two goals that I set out before the mocks. Those goals being to write out a more solid plan next to the text so that I can develop a strong picture of the text’s main idea early on in the exam, and to balance my use of micro and macro analysis more.

That being said I also made some mistakes that I can learn from. I learnt that I should not fixate on certain features or individual lines too much, they should build a good foundation for developing my idea, but I should take into account all aspects that make up a text: Structure, Tense, Perspective, Diction, Tone and Techniques. In doing so I can pick up and write a more nuanced essay.  It also demonstrates that I have a careful eye and strong understanding about all of the text not just select and obvious parts. Also when ending a paragraph I should be more precise and distinctive, although that may require I develop ideas more, doing so would improve the clarity of the essay.
