Is Odysseus a complex character?

It can be argued that Odysseus is in fact one of the more complex characters in Homer’s, The Odyssey. However, one may also make the argument that his intentions are such that simply make him a static, black and white character. Odysseus can best be described as devious, yet brave. His courage and perseverance are what he lives by, and are what have saved his life a countless number of times. When faced with a problem, he is evaluative and demonstrates a logic that is able to counteract his hotheadedness. He differs from most epic heroes because of his wile and brash character. Odysseus has no qualms in lying to his loved ones, even if it means hurting them. Despite his, he is a self reliant, self disciplined individual.
