Transition From Middle School To High School

Transition From Middle School To High School

So far it has been quite a smooth transition. There have been some changes but not too many, which I’m pleased with. I’m still on good terms with my friends from middle school and branching out even more, which means that there has been progress.

Probably the biggest challenge has been that I need to be more responsible. I’m quite organised and I get my assignments in on time but I personally feel that my self – management skills could be better. I’m doing well but there is always room for improvement.

The biggest surprise has been that things are just not what I expected, especially people. I know that you cannot predict people and therefore you shouldn’t judge them upon first glance but I feel that others don’t understand that yet.

I am looking forward to just becoming more confident and comfortable with myself. Eventually, this will happen and I will no longer be afraid of what others think. What I have leant about myself is how the things I do affects how others perceive me. What I have learnt about our UWC community is that the people become accepting with time.

Advice I’d give to next years grade 9’s would be that stressing out is a natural thing that we cannot control but that it is a waste of time and that instead they should just live in the moment.

Even though it’s a year and a half away I’m nervous about the IGCSE’s as everything I am doing now is preparing me for them. I think that when I need it I like that I have the option to ask for guidance and for help but for now I think I’m doing alright.
