Stress to me is something that I previously thought as both having a positive and negative impact on my personal life. I think of stress as a motivator, it shows how I have cared for a certain topic or activity and that I want to put in the effort to do my best. But I also see how it is regularly interpreted as a negative physical response to a situation. If I could, I would prefer to not experience any moments of heart-pounding and more sweat from these stressful moments, and therefore that a very stressful situation feels like its having a negative impact on my body and mind. Through this, my perspective has definitely shifted to see stress in a more positive light. Through the rethinking that my body’s reaction to a stressful situation is actually a response in preparation to take action, it induces a more courageous reaction. Instead of making me feel stuck in a rut, I feel that it would aid in taking that leap of faith and simply try my best in any given situation.
Moving forward, one goal for the coming future would be to shift how I see stress-related responses in my body. If I can actively switch my emotional response to stress symptoms, I think that this would have a profound impact on my ability to perform and also manage my health!
