Society- What Is Its Ultimate Goal

  • Do you agree with him that culture is and should be the ultimate goal of any society?

This question can be answered in several ways, but it honestly depends on what a human prefers and priorities more. The  British Government’s main goal might be to increase the country’s overall GDP, while on the other hand the Government of Kenya might consider Education as a more important factor which will help the country develop further.

Even though these might be the aims of a government, at a smaller scale, society’s may have very different aims. Such as improving culture. I agree with Rosling that at the end of the day what matters most is culture. Without culture every country is more or less identical. Culture can be defined as the identity of the country, without it a country has no purpose.

Culture not only attracts people from other country it also acts as a glue, binding everyone in the country together. It also increases the well-being of the country and thus decreasing the number of crimes. Culture should be given more attention and realistically thinking about it without our culture and roots where would we have come from?

  1. I read your post with interest as it is true that different places have very specific goals which they will be working towards. I think what Rosling was trying to say is that while a government may be focused on improving education or the economy, these are actually things which will enable the population to live a fulfilled and rich life. At this point, culture becomes a significant part of that.
