My initial idea was to compare The Prince from Niccolo Machiavelli to a ruler in history. Essentially I would write a machiavellian analysis on a dictator to see how realistic the ideas of Machiavelli ideal ruler were. I started to research The Prince in more depth, by reading the book itself and several reviews on the book, when I had to change my research question as it did not categorize as a WorldSudies EE. While this was upsetting, with the help of my supervisor I managed to formulate a new philosophy EE. research question: “To what extent are Machiavelli The Prince and Plato’s philosophy ruler compatible?”. This question was still addressing the aspect of The Prince that intrigued me and is still relevant today: Who should rule?.
As I don’t take Philosophy as a subject I have found the process challenging so far, but I am reading several texts addressing my question to gain as much knowledge as I can.

So what are your next steps as you move forward with your EE? Have you discussed any research options with your supervisor? You may also want to check with Susan in the HS Library as she has access to various academic databases … perhaps they will help?
