Physics
At this school, HL Physics is known for being very difficult, and that HL Math is needed to understand it. My teacher emphasised that the latter is simply not true, and I somewhat agree. Physics can be understood as the understanding of and analysing the mathematics inherent in the observable universe. And yet, physics is also inherently philosophical. Science and philosophy used to be the same thing not so long ago. How could they not, when seeing the expanse of the starry skies makes us question the significance of our species, or when quantum mechanics makes us question our fundamental understandings of space and time? While it is significant to our species, it is also meaningful for me. Astronomy was one of the first areas of science that I ever got interested in. And now I am much older, and still exploring physics, and through it, hopefully what it means to be human.
