Swimming during Quarantine

The swim season was cut short and as a team, we were deprived of our main goal, which was to compete in competitions for the remainder of the year. The effect that it had on us as a team was devastating and it was a definite setback for me. Swimming has been my longterm sport and has been a crucial aspect of my life from a young age, the amount of house and effort that I put in, just for it to be taken away for an extended period of time is something that is never easy to deal with. But through quarantine, I have learned so much about myself and the type of person I am, to me I have always thought the main joy of swimming is training with a team that is almost like your family, however, the test of individual training has shown me that goal setting is crucial and my motivation drive is higher than I ever thought it was, this time has proved to me that I don’t have to rely on a team but rather my own goals and my own success for motivation. As an alternative to swimming, we have been doing the same number of sessions (9 sessions in 6 days) of land training, strength out of the water is a crucial part of our training program and the enhancement of this aspect allows us to develop and work on our weaknesses. Each week varies depending on the focus (E.g. power, strength, endurance, aerobic etc.)
