I think this video is so powerful because it just shows the frustration of how long the fight for equality has been. The coloured community in the USA are told time and time again that they are equal, that they have freedom and they have rights but the truth is they won’t and it has taken multiple tragedies just like this which have occured due to deeply ingrained social biases and prejudices and still, things have not changed nearly enough.

I think it also represents how distraught, broken , desperate and angry the community feels from always fighting the same fight and never being heard. Majority of the protests in USA are extremely positive with important and critical messages being spread however there has been a lot of media surrounding the negative side. E.g. the violent riots that take place in neighbourhoods that are actually filled with immigrants and people of colour and hence the riot completely contradicts and diminishes its purpose as the people it affects most are the people they are trying to help.

Also, I think this video shows how looting or resolving to such methods of violence are not the right answer but are justified by their anger of how society has completely failed them and they just want to break its rules in vengeance. However, I think the 31 year old man’s mindset and words in this video are so extremely powerful and important. He is just as angry and desperate as everyone else but he knows violence and looting won’t make the social change he wants and he is able to recognise that. I think this video also represents how the entire community has come together for this. They are not all sure exactly the “right way to react” (if there is even one, but they are reading to speak and fight for their community.
