TOK Assignment: Culture and Paradigms

In many cases, it is compulsory to perform this daily burdensome ritual before leaving the house. The ritual requires the slaughtering of a pig – where elements of pig fat are taken and mixed with minerals extracted from iron ores and combined with pigments of squeezed juices from coloured fruit or even chlorophyll. Using a stick with squirrel, goat, or horsehair (whatever is at their convince) attached to it, people smear the substance on their eyelids and cheeks. It is a required practice, typically done if the person does not want to look alien. Similar to a mating call, they use this to (if they are lucky) find love. The thing is, it is only acceptable to drown yourself in this substance if you meet the criteria: 1. if you have hairless legs and 2. If you have clumps of blubber (2 preferably), placed above your stomach but below your neck. If you do not meet the criteria but still wish to practice this ritual, you will be frowned upon and be accused of liking people too similar to you (even if that may be the case). If you do not meet the criteria, participation in this ritual is at your own risk. In extreme cases, you could be kicked out of your house or sent to sit on your knees and ask some man in the sky for forgiveness. In good cases, you may look into a surface, typically of glass coated with a metal amalgam, which shows an inverted image, and you may feel braver, stronger, and more like yourself then before the application of the substance.

  1. Ah, very good! So I guess make-up for women, for fear of being accused of being gay and asked to pray for forgiveness. And looking into a mirror 🙂

Nicely done! Let’s see if the others can get it next week.

    Thank you
