How I Choose My Music

Ever since I got my own laptop and a phone, the frequency of finding myself listening to music has increased meticulously.

I really enjoy listening to music as it has great power of influencing people. It boosts me up by listening to energetic songs when I get so much exhausted but have tons of assessments assigned me to do or sometimes comforts me when I had a very bad day. As music to me is a thing that motivates, boosts or comforts me, I listen to music most of the time of my day and rely on music very muc

The way I choose my music differs from my mood that day, but I usually prefer to listen to songs that are melodic, gentle and bright. I don’t really songs that have a lot of negative themes in because I want to receive some positive boost and energy by listening to the music, not really getting depressed and gloomy all day due to the music. For the same reason, I also try to avoid songs that include any kind of discriminations and lyrics that are intended to belittle other people. Additionally, I try to listen to songs whose albums’ cover looks interesting or some songs that are randomly played that are recommended by Spotify and if it is good, I add them into my playlist.

The interesting feature for me is that I tend to listen to some songs that are composed in a language that I am not really exposed to. For instance, when I was in Korea, I mainly listened to some pop songs, but at the point where I am in SG, I listen to Korean songs more. I think this makes me sustain both of the cultures that I am included and interested in.  To add more, as I want to experience many diverse songs, I make a playlist for that month with songs that I prefer to listen to those days as my music taste differs all the time. Some of the music pieces that I listen to these days are ‘Can’t Sleep Love’ by Pentatonix and ‘Brainwashed’ by George.

The influence that music gives to people is really enormous and it can also be a media where people can bond and share their values and identity. In order to share their passion and values through music successfully, people should think about their own ways and set up their own philosophy of choosing their own music.
