Transition Process G10-11

During the last few weeks, we have been learning about some subjects we could take in G11. We have been talking to past students and some teachers about which subjects are better for us. I have talked to students both in G11 and 12, and some of the teachers who are teaching the new subjects next year. I have also looked at the transitions website, which we had to use because of the options evening being cancelled.

On the website, we can see videos of past students who have decided to pick the subjects. Through the video, I could see the difference between most subjects at HL and SL. I also learnt more about the course content of the subject and what we would actually be learning about. The website was quite helpful in helping me narrow down which subjects I would like to take next year.

One of the subjects I would like to take next year is Psychology at HL, therefore I went and talked to the head of Psych. She was able to help me better understand what the course included and any preparation needed for it. After talking to her, I talked to some other students who took Psych at both HL and SL and they told me more about the course and what sort of things we would need to be able to do. In math, we also did a diagnostic test which shows which type of math we were better suited towards taking, and we also had conversations with our teacher about next steps and what we were thinking about taking next year. I am now leaning towards taking SL Analysis. I am continuing to have conversations with other teachers about which subjects I should take next year, and whether to take them at HL or SL.

Overall, the resources provided to us by the school and the conversations with teachers and other students have really helped me narrow down choices and decide what I would like to do.
