Different people around the world have different identities. Its easier to share the core parts of your identity with others for example age.gender or race as these parts of our identity we know better than others. The more deeper parts of our identity may be constantly changing or happening throughout our lifetime for example life experiences, skills and perspectives. Its easier to show the surface than get in deeper one could argue. Noticing the diagram you can see aspects like beliefs, family status and heritage are below the waterline of visibility as each of these things can be complicated to talk about and people may not want to show these parts of their identity. Half of the things below the waterline of visibility people are still figuring out themselves

For me personally people may look at me and with a 5 minute conversation will know my age, where I am from and maybe even my interests. People who look at me may now recall me as a tall Indian girl who likes to dance. However as I stated above though what people perceive as me may be all true, it lacks depth. When I look at myself or when I think of myself I see a girl who loves sports, who wants to be a doctor, a girl who likes working with other people, a girl who believes in equality. Understandably I would tend to see a lot more of my identity than others who Ive just met but others who I’ve known for a long time would maybe see me like I would see myself.
