My Personal Statement as well as my Transition into Grade 11

This year has inevitably been an experience in all aspects for me and has molded me into a better person today. United World College has opened my eyes about several things. In the past, I had this ideology that the most important part of school is the academic aspect of it. Upon entering this school, the environment has influenced me to join more extracurricular activities. It not only puts me out of my comfort zone but has helped me gain new friends and memories and has also taught me communication skills. Culturama as well as being a part of the global concern ‘blue dragon’ and the focus group ‘GEP’ have taught me different yet new things and being a part of each of them was an experience in itself.

I remember the first day I attended school, the large campus had me completely lost. The process of adapting to a new environment or situation is something I would believe I am good at however, this was the first time I did not have my parents beside my side quite literally since I had shifted to boarding and that was the moment I knew I had to be pretty much on my own. Joining UWC, and being a part of the boarding house is truly a pleasure. It has taught me to be the independent and confident girl that I am today, and I am grateful for being a part of the UWC community today.

Regardless of the inevitable situation not only me but the entire world has been put under, which is why I had to finish my grade 10 online due to the lack of opportunities provided to me. I believe I am ready for the new academic year, Grade 11 and I am excited for the new challenges it is going to throw at me. I am still a little assertive about my subject choices, which is why I am planning to look into it over the summer in order to avoid chaos once school reopens.

Overall, I am looking forward to Grade 11 and I am ready to put in the hours it requires. I am delighted to start my journey into IB and explore something new. Even though I am aware of the challenges that come with this course I am happy to adapt to the new routine as long as I am mentally stable and I am able to divide my time amongst everything efficiently.
