Emotional Intelligence – Thoughts and goal setting

I do feel that there are some areas amongst the 18 behaviors of emotionally intelligent people that I connect with. For example, I do tend to embrace change and appreciate what I have, as I feel that not doing so would be counter-productive. However, there are some behaviors present here that I do not exactly see as indicators of emotionally intelligent people. I do not feel it is wrong to seek perfection – even though it is impossible – because this gives you the drive and determination to do well. Additionally, a robust emotional vocabulary doesn’t necessarily mean that you are emotionally intelligent. Understanding different words and synonyms does not give you the ability to better understand and interact with other people. Furthermore, I do feel I can do better at not holding grudges or not getting easily offended. Usually, when talking about contentious topics, I tend to be very passionate and may take particular offense at extreme points of views. There are also times where I find it hard to say “no”, as I feel I may be perceived the wrong way. On the other hand, I do feel that I am good at understanding my strengths and weaknesses, which allow me to grow and develop as a person. I tend to identify my weaknesses well and then work to identifying the problem which is causing my weakness and then solving it.
